In our past spiritually abusive ‘church’ confusion and fear was in the air at all times. The effects of this fear and confusion were partly caused by the narc-elder devaluing and/or discarding certain folks in the fellowship. These people were either a threat to his charade (exposing him) or were in disagreement with him – it didn’t matter how small the disagreement was; he would start his devaluation if he felt the person couldn’t be molded to his side.
